Just like in clothing, there are trends in resorts. One current and delightful trend in beach resorts is the "swim up room". But just what is it?
Which resorts have these rooms?
El Dorado Royale
El Dorado Seaside Suites
El Dorado Maroma
THE Royal in Cancun
THE Royal in Playa del Carmen
.....among others.
If you've never seen one, just picture this. You enter your room the normal way through a regular door, you see your beautiful resort accommodations. Look past the bed though, to the other side of the room. You'll see a sliding glass door. If you open that door, you'll behold the wonder of the swim up room. Now, this varies based on your resort, but generally you'll find a patio area with two lounging chairs. Step down from the patio and you'll step into a wading pool, probably a long narrow pool that passes in front of a whole section of similar rooms. At many resorts it will be a short leisurely wade to a swim up bar where a variety of liquid refreshments are readily available.
This sort of room is especially great if several couples are traveling together. Clients tell us that getting adjacent rooms and spending the day visiting, taking a dip in the pool and wading down for drinks is a fine way to spend a few days.
Most people find that they primarily spend their vacation days lounging on their private patio while occasionally getting into the water to cool off or wade down to the swim up bar. Twenty four hour room service rounds out the perfect day.
